Did your Insurance Company Deny Your Hail Damage Claim?

There are cases where even when the neighborhood of an area, has had hail damage, and most of the roofs have been replaced (or many), still the insurance adjuster denies the claim.  The fact is, Even though hail damage in the U.S. is widespread and costly, there is a lack of uniform criteria for identifying wind and hail damage in the industry. Although severe hail damage is easy to identify, roofs may be damaged to a lesser degree, and inspectors from different backgrounds sometimes disagree about what is and what isn’t hail damage.

If inspectors were to use the same criteria for identifying damage, then there’s a good chance of reducing disagreement, as well as confusion for homeowners who are looking to these professionals for guidance and help.  So, it is worth while to consider to do a reclaim if the homeowner or a contractor strongly feel that the claim was unjustly denied.  Also, different companies have a different criteria for what would suffice for hail damage.  Some will accept 8 hail marks in a square, and others 10 in a square.  Sometimes, these policies are set by the insurance company and sometimes by the adjuster himself.  Either way, while there is always marks on the roof that can be argued about, if it is or is not hail, or if this is enough hail damage, etc.  So, it is important to consider to do a reclaim, or a new claim if enough time has passed.
