Generally, its more important how many years of warranty (20 year, 25 year, 30 year, etc) a company will give. That is more important then what the shingle is made out of. Now, having said that, fiberglass is better for our region here in Texas, more and more companies are moving towards fiber glass mat. Fiber glass is also fire resistant. Also the fiber glass shingles work better in hot weather. Both the shingles are made with asphalt, but the mat in different. One has more wood, and the other has more fiber glass.
